As a DTP student, you are eligible to apply for additional funding for training (not including attendance at research conferences).
Applications for up to £2,500 will be considered that may be used to support course fees, economy travel and reasonable accommodation and subsistence. Other expenses will also be considered if a clear case is made in the application. Funds will be awarded on a competitive basis.
The scholarships will be awarded on the strength of the application and the main uses of funds are:
- Attendance at a relevant skills training workshop (for example grant writing, specialist research techniques etc)
- Training that advances your research studies
- Training that involves exploiting new ways of working or enhances your training in niche skills
- Training that maps to BBSRC strategic areas

Applications will be reviewed by theNewcastle/Liverpool/Durham BBSRC DTP Studentship Committee on the following dates: 1 February, 1 May, 1 August, and 1 November. All applications should be submitted 2 weeks before these dates.
Successful applicants will be notified of the maximum sum awarded. You will be able to apply for more than one award during a period of PhD study. However preference will be given to those who have not received an award or have not received the maximum award.
Funds will be released only after expenditure and on submission of all receipts and a brief report (about 500 words) on the outcomes.
