About

Industrial biotechnology and bioenergy

The aim of projects falling under this theme is to develop and produce energy, industrial materials or biopharmaceuticals using biological processes.

Like other countries, the UK needs to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels and reduce its carbon emissions. Our students address this challenge by finding novel ways that biological processes from a variety of different organisms can be used as renewable sources of materials, chemicals and energy sources.
